Trends That Defined CES 2024: 11 of Them Explained
CES 2024 has recently concluded, and there are specific tech
trends that need to be expected in the year to come. While novelties like
wearables that can cook and smart showers attracted lots of attention, many
important breakthroughs that should affect our lives are coming. The trends
below are my pick of the best of CES 2024:
1. Bigger
Mini-LED TVs
Mini-LED TVs are growing bigger and are showing no signs of
slowing down any time soon. TCL brought out a prototype of their 115-inch model
for people to see and Hisense presented theirs 110-inch ULED X model which was
incredibly bright. Despite these TVs being small in size, they are expected to
get cheaper due to economies of scale hence improving the quality of home
theatres in the market.
2.
Brighter OLED TVs
This year OLED displays are heading for a new brightness
level. It revealed that the new C4 model is even brighter than its previous
model as the result of the optimized facility for processing and an innovative
microlens array. Samsung too came out strong with the “Glare Free” S95D OLED
which is perfect for well-lit areas. For those upgrading their TV setup, 2024
looks all set to be one of the best years.
3. The
Qi2 Wireless Charging Is Going Mass
At CES, Qi2 wireless charging, the next level of wireless
charging, showed the potential to deliver power and efficiency improvements for
smartphones. For now, it is only possible to use with iPhone 15; however, it is
expected that it will soon be available for use in other gadgets as well. CES
also unveiled some new Qi2 charging accessories that include folding 3-in-1
from Satechi which will be released in the later part of this year.
4.
Bluetooth Auracast Shifts How We Listen to with Headphones
Auracast via Bluetooth was among the key innovations in the
shows floor at CES. It enables multiple devices to listen to a single audio
stream and in essence it can alter the use of headphones in public platforms
such as airports or during events. Auracast allows streaming the sound to
several devices at once which gives a new level of comfort.
5.
Smart(er) Assistance and AI Gadgets
Smart devices backed by artificial intelligence will become
popular in the years to come in 2024. An unforgettable at CES 2015 was Rabbit
R1, a remote control, which is intended for controlling the voice operations in
applications. The transition to such more naive in terms of Artificial
Intelligence gadgets is rather predicted to be the start of the new epoch of
such interaction.
6. The
opportunities of E-INK to individualize devices
However, the primary application that any tech persons had
ever associated with E Ink technology was just limited to e-readers. The
configurations are available for users to add E-ink screens behind the
ThinkBook 13x Gen 4 laptop covers where users can have a picture like an
animated logo displayed without interfering with the laptop battery. Infinix
also exhibited design ideas of concept smartphone covers involving E-Ink
displays that are capable of changing colour and images. The advancement in
this tech may soon lead to enhancement of both personalization and
effectiveness in terms of energy consumption of such devices.
7. Smart
rings … the new fashion or futuristic accessory?
Smart rings may well be the next big thing when it comes to
wearable tech. Although the Oura Ring became the pioneer, CES 2024 showed a few
more players in this arena. While the Amazfit range of rings is much more
novel, what the Helio Ring is designed to do is health monitoring and the Lotus
Ring is a controller for smart devices. The idea with more choices ahead, smart
rings can become as popular as smartwatches.
8. Neural
Headphones Are Here
Later CES over the world, neural headphones premiered that
will change the way humans work with technology. For instance, the Naqi Neural
Earbuds can be used to control devices such as computers through brain waves
and muscle sensors. Although it is a relatively new technology, this has the
potential to revolutionize how we interact with our gadgets.
9.
ChatGPT in Everything
Almost every company on the CES 2024 floor had some way to
integrate ChatGPT into a product. Volkswagen is even using ChatGPT in its cars
for conversational-style interactions using Artificial Intelligence. However,
due to the quality of information that the AI systems provide, it has raised
questions in areas like driving assistance among others.
10.
Invisible Smart Home Tech
The biggest trend for smart home devices is their
integration into the homes without being seen as a separate entity. Some of
them include; Aladdin, a ceiling light cum projector by XGIMI and BMind, a
smart mirror with mental health AI by Baracoda suggests that smart appliances
will be more subtle than being flashy and providing improved features. Samsung
and LG, and among other leading brands are also developing efforts to have TVs
essentially control the smart home and leave no need for other devices.
11. From
forums and blogs to messages, this is what people had to say about Cheaper
Alternatives to Apple Vision Pro.
While Apple Vision Pro was not in CES, the rest of the
companies presented more affordable options for consumers. Xreal responding to
Apple $3,499 headset launched Air 2 Ultra glasses for just under the same
price. Other more affordable mixed reality headsets are expected to roll out
soon, and many manufacturers are already eyeing a piece of the cake in what
Apple expects to be a very lucrative market.
CES 2024 provided a glimpse of what 2024 was to look like in
terms of technology. Thanks to new AI expansion, wearables, and home tech, 2024
is going to be the year of more personal and intimate devices defining our
existence and the ways we use them.
